Room & Board Scholarship
Housing scholarship ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 are awarded to approximately 15 cadets each semester.
Scholarship recipients demonstrate strong academic performance while meeting a minimum amount or greater of program participation points through active involvement in ROTC, on campus, or the community.
Cadet Colby Marlow Scholarship
$1,000 per year.
In 2021, the Bulldog Battalion and Mississippi State University campus and community lost Cadet Colby Marlow to an automobile accident. This scholarship in Colby's memory, will be awarded to an Army ROTC Cadet in the Spring semester based on academic and demonstrated leadership performance.
Army ROTC Alumni Scholarship
$1000 awarded each year to 3 Army ROTC cadets.
The Army ROTC Alumni established this Alumni general Scholarship with the purpose of this fund to offset ROTC cadet financial obligations on and off campus. This scholarship of $1,000, is awarded to three Army ROTC scholarship cadets each year who have demonstrated leadership ability and good moral character.
National Service Scholarship
$2,000 over two years, $1,000 per year.
Must be a first or second year cadet and meet all criteria to be "enrolled," as defined by the Army/Air Force program, in ROTC classes and must have a minimum 20 ACT or a 1200 SAT. Click below to see other criteria.
JROTC Scholarship
$500 ($250 per semester) for entering freshmen.
Must be a Mississippi Resident and must have a scholarship GPA of 3.0. Click below to see other criteria.
MSG George A. Nowlin Endowed Scholarship
$1,000 per year.
Sergeant George Arthur Nowlin served 17 years as an Army Drill Instructor for Mississippi State College's ROTC from 1919 to 1936. The Sergeant George Arthur Nowlin Endowed Scholarship for ROTC cadets was formed in 1988 in his memory and provides scholarship support to a deserving Mississippi State University Army ROTC Cadet each year. This scholarship is a $1,000 endowment per year awarded to the cadet demonstrating leadership ability, great academic standing, and military bearing.
Dr. Steve and Mrs. Martha Ruth Parvin Endowed Scholarship
$1,000 per year.
Dr. Steve Parvin, a Starkville native, received his medical training in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a flight surgeon in Pensacola, FL. Following deployments to Hawaii, Japan, the Philippines, and Vietnam, he completed a residency in general surgery at Balboa Navy Hospital in San Diego, CA. Dr. Parvin left the military in 1975 to return to Starkville, where he practiced surgery for 42 years before retiring in December 2011.
Mrs. Martha Ruth Parvin earned a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Mississippi State in 1963. During her time at MSU, she was Homecoming Queen, a cheerleader, and a member of Phi Mu Sorority. After graduation, she became a beloved schoolteacher and tennis coach. Her dedication and impact are recognized through the naming of the Phi Mu Sorority Chapter Room in her honor.
